Maj [Marjorie] Newhouse (pronunciation): Raised on the outskirts of town by an Orthodox, Italian/American grandmother, Maj had few friends as a child. But when Nonna realized her granddaughter could be part of a youth group, they began attending New Life Redeemer Church where Maj met Aimee and Kevin Cole.
Not one to easily trust others, Maj can come across as terse or awkward to those who don’t know her. But she, Aimee, and Kevin have forged deep connections. Although she attributes her strong gift of faith to Nonna’s teaching, she also credits her growth to the Coles’ as an adopted, spiritual family.
She works as a mechanic for Hamburg’s Auto and loves her small-town life in Normal, Illinois.

Aimee Cole: Where Maj is abrasive, Aimee is the balm, carrying love and joy wherever she goes. The Scripture infers that those who have been forgiven of much love much, and Aimee is living proof! She is passionately in love with the God who delivered her and is eager to share the love that she has found.
Aimee is the older of the Cole siblings and treats Maj like a sister, correcting her as often and freely as she does her own little brother Kevin.
She is a Pilates instructor at the local gym and is a “health nut” as Kevin would say.

Kevin Cole: Happy-go-lucky Kevin is a sweet, outgoing nineteen-year-old who is always ready for the next adventure. He has a genuine heart but is somewhat oblivious and can come across as slightly insensitive—fortunately, Aimee and Maj are usually on hand to point it out for him!
Following in his father’s footsteps, Kevin is attending seminary in a nearby town. He is a font of scriptural knowledge and is learning more every day.

Jason Knight: This businessman from Chicago is a result-oriented workaholic with a partnership in view. He is open to any solution that will forward his career and impress the board at MPI.
Before meeting the team, he dealt with psychics and mystics, so words like “exorcist” roll right off his tongue. He regards the team’s Christianity merely as an answer to a problem.

Dr. Matthew Cole, Th. D: Aimee and Kevin’s father is a published Christian author who serves as a deacon at New Life Redeemer Church. Studious but not overly serious, Dr. Cole is open and approachable and encourages his kids to come to him with the tough questions.

Susan Cole: As a pastor’s daughter, Mrs. Cole has a rich heritage of faith that she readily shares. She is an encourager who seeks to nurture and serve others. In fact, she became a stay-at-home mom to raise Aimee and Kevin, and now acts as her husband’s editor and typist.
Mrs. Cole is the heart of the family and they all rely on her wisdom and quiet strength.

Trench: An old college friend of Aimee’s, Trench is “the guy that gets the dirt on any subject.” He has an immense library on religions and deities and is open to the concept of a supreme, higher power—he just hasn’t found it yet.
He owns “Ghost Hunters” which is a store in Chicago that sells paranormal investigation gear.

Isaac Davis: Maj’s friend from high school is no longer the geeky, awkward nerd she once knew. Now a confident, outgoing man; Isaac has returned to their hometown to celebrate some big life changes. But ties from the past are strong and continue to draw Isaac and Maj together.

Toby Plank: Toby is the son of Officer Plank of the Normal Police Department and Kevin’s best friend. When they aren’t playing video games or sports, they are challenging and encouraging each other to grow in their faith. He and Kevin attend seminary together. Both men have plans to enter the ministry after graduation; for now, Toby’s focus is on general studies.
